A simple smart home starter setup
Three devices are enough to make a UAE apartment feel smart without a complicated hub setup.
Lighting first
Smart bulbs are the cheapest way to see the benefit: schedules for the evening, colour for guests, and voice control from a phone. Wi-Fi bulbs avoid a separate hub.
Add a smart plug
A plug turns any lamp, kettle or fan into a scheduled device, and energy monitoring shows what actually costs you money over a month.
Then a camera
An indoor camera with motion alerts covers the entrance while you travel. Check that recordings can stay on a local memory card if you would rather avoid a subscription.
