Powering a desert camping weekend
What to pack so lights, phones and a cooler survive two nights out of the city.
Work out your watt-hours
Add up what each device draws and for how long. Phones and lights are small; a cooler is the item that decides whether you need a portable power station instead of a large power bank.
Lighting that lasts
A rechargeable lantern with several brightness modes lasts far longer on a low setting, and models that double as a power bank save carrying a second device.
Recharging in the field
A car charger covers short trips. For two nights or more, a power station with solar input keeps everything topped up without idling the engine.
